Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church, together with Baptism and Eucharist. Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or "confirm" the baptized in union with Christ and equip them for active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church (CCC: 1285).
Baptized youth who have been regularly attending formal religious formation classes either in Catholic schools, parish religious education programs, or sanctioned home-school programs for the last two years, and will be age 15 by the date of Confirmation, can be confirmed after completion of a parish-based program of preparation for the sacrament. The program normally runs through the school year from September through May. Contact the parish office for more information.
Confirmation sponsors must be in “good standing” with the Catholic Church and have no impediments to the reception of Holy Communion.
